Before that, he played for several clubs in Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and Azerbaijan, as well as Lithuania's FK Suduva in 2021.
According to Honda, he is pursuing several personal challenges, including attempting to score in more domestic top leagues than anyone else.
However, his primary goal with FC Jurong is to win the league title, which he acknowledges will be a tough challenge due to strong rival teams.
Honda previously played for the Japan national team, earning 98 caps and scoring 38 goals before retiring after the 2018 World Cup.
Outside of football, Honda is involved in various business ventures, including a venture capital fund and a non-league club in Japan.
He has also managed the Cambodia national team from 2018 to 2023.
FC Jurong views Honda's signing as a significant move, with chairman Daisuke Korenaga stating that bringing the player on board represents more than just a single signing.
According to Korenaga, Honda brings world-class experience, vision, and passion to the team, and together, they aim to build a lasting legacy for the club.
